ANATOMY OF ODOR

Odor is a gas or vapor recognized by your olfactory senses (your nose) as unpleasant or unbearable and potentially causing physical reaction or need to escape from the indoor environment altogether. When odor forms it does so as invisible molecules that must be removed. These molecules can be very clingy, attaching themselves to rugs, carpets, clothes, sofas, mattresses and other fabrics. Blue Moon utilizes an array of tools, technology, safe and effective treatments, and know-how to remove unpleasant odor from indoor air. More importantly, we stay keenly focussed on ensuring your complete comfort.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF ODOR-FREE ENVIRONMENT

Environments which are odor-free offer conditions which are perceived to be pleasant and less stressful, thus leading to a higher level of productivity within the home or workplace.

BLUE MOON'S 3-STEP APPROACH TO ODOR REMOVAL

We utilize three (3) foundational principles of deoderization. Odors can remain or re-occur if one or more of these principles is not followed:

STEP#1: IDENTIFY & REMOVE THE PRIMARY SOURCE

If not easily identifiable, We perform a vigorous search for the culprit or cause of the malignant odor. Naturally, if we don't remove the responsible source, the problem persists

STEP #2: CLEAN CONTAMINATED AREAS & SURFACES

We clean or wash the contaminated surfaces with mild counter-actant. Clean all residues, visible soot, ash, grease, grime, or other buildups.

STEP #3: RECREATE CONDITIONS OF PENETRATION

We attempt to recreate the conditions that caused the odor molecules to become energized and active in the first place to help ensure we have adequately removed them. If all else fails, we proceed to step #4 - seal or encapsulate the affected areas.

HEPA VACUUMING

We utilize HEPA vacuums to remove airborne particulates down to .3 microns.

AIR SCRUBBING

We utilize true activated carbon filters to scrub the air clean of odor molecules.

NEGATIVE AIR

ADDITIONAL BLUE MOON TOOLS & PRODUCTS

Blue Moon utilizes an array of tools, equipment, and products to address airborne malignant odors. Some of the tools and products available to us include the following:

THERMAL FOGGING

Vaporized odor counteractants dispersed into the indoor or outdoor environment. Counteractants chase after smelly odors.

CHLORINE DIOXIDE (CIO2)

ClO2 is a gas that can penetrate deeper and more effectively than other non gas products. ClO2 molecules are attracted to the negatively charged odor molecules like a magnet is to iron. So it literally seeks them out and destroys them like a smart bomb.

OZONE GENERATOR

Oxidizing agent dispersed into the atmosphere to provide positive charge to negatively-charged odor molecules.

ODOR KLENZ TEHCNOLOGY

Specialized true activated carbon filter utilized inside of our air scrubbers to decompose odor molecules as they pass through the filter.

HYDROXIL GENERATOR

Disperses hydroxil radicals into the atmosphere to remove odors.

Not sure what to do next?

What causes bad odors?

FIRE & SMOKE

image117

  • Smoke, soot and ash cause odors that can linger long after the flames are gone. As you try to restore your home, you could be breathing nasty smoke particles into your lungs plus dealing with the stench of it all. Also, smoke and soot residue from nearby wildfires can cause interior and exterior damage to your home. Wildfire smoke can easily seep into drywall, wood, and textiles. Additionally, fine, toxic soot can coat and damage a range of materials, leading to stains, residue and permeating odors in addition to increased health risks.

WATER DAMAGE

image118

  • There will always be pipe bursts, leaks, and other types of malfunction. Where there a is an opportunity for leakage, water damage and mold growth will occur. Certain areas are especially prone to natural flooding disasters like hurricanes, tidal swells and tsunamis. These areas are also at high-risk for water damage. Left unaddressed, floods and leaks can damage the structure of our building, foundation and integrity of your home. It can also cause a persistent mildew smell, encouraging the growth of visible, sometimes dangerous mold spores.

SEWAGE & BACTERIA

  • Sewage releases a particularly putrid odor. If and when a sewage backup occurs, we remove the bacteria-ridden waste material and its accompanying stench. We seek to prevent it from coming into contact with harmful pathogens. At Blue Moon, we have specialized tools, equipment, and products, specially designed to address a wide range of odors and contaminants.

DOG & PET ODOR

Animal Hoarding - What We Do.

Animal hoarding situations are unique due to the fact that human occupants (and other animals) can be exposed to harmful bio hazards and a sometimes present an overwhelming odor that hits you like a brick wall the second you enter the interior environment.

Toxic fecal deposits and acidic urine have after-effects that can linger beyond cleanup if the right procedures for cleanup and odor remediation are not followed to properly remediate them. Urine alone can carry over 200 different viruses.

There are many steps involved in Animal hoarding cleaning and restoration including the following:

  • Removal of the source - removal (relocation) of the animals or have them taken to a safe place
  • Negative Air ("coughing the interior environment")
  • Use of specially-formulated enzyme digesters and other chemicals to clean surfaces and subsurfaces which may have been in contact with bodily fluids, feces, and pet dander.
  • Content cleaning of the items in the home that may have been contaminated.

Animal hoarding can include all types of animals -  cats, dogs, pigeons, reptiles, rats, even skunks, and more. There are dangers that must be adequately addressed since the feces and urine left behind poses a severe hazard to the health and safety of all who enter the premises.  Special precautions need to be taken in order to safely remove the items from the home and dispose of the contaminated materials and feces in a safe and effective manner.
